H43F:
Global Precipitation Measurement, Validation, and Applications V Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 48752

Session Description:
Global measurements of precipitation are vital for monitoring Earth’s water resources and the hydrologic cycle, understanding climate variability, and improving weather prediction. The Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Mission “Core” satellite was launched by NASA and JAXA in early 2014 as a central platform in the GPM international satellite constellation. The GPM Core serves as the on-orbit calibration source and precipitation remote sensing laboratory to support radiometer measurements made by the larger GPM constellation. Collectively, the GPM mission provides the next-generation of unified global precipitation products with the record lengths, accuracies, and data latencies essential for research and integrated applications. This session invites contributions in all areas of precipitation science, with a focus on GPM and Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission data. These include retrieval algorithms, ground validation, inter-sensor calibration and data fusion. This session will also have a focus on data utilization and applications across the broad range of user communities.
