The Changing Face of the Mid-Pleistocene Transition Posters

Session Description:
The Mid-Pleistocene Transition (MPT, traditionally, 800-1200 thousand years ago) marks the last great climate transition in the geological record, and represents an important locus of study for the changing nature of orbital climate cycles. Sea level, temperature, and carbon dioxide records confirm that the character of climate can change without an external forcing. Access to new techniques, records, and localities have recently challenged the paradigm of the MPT as a single event and are elucidating the processes which trigger the transition. In this session we seek to gather together those new elements and records from throughout the Pleistocene to search for a unified answer to these problems, from the deep ocean to the atmosphere. Abstracts are invited from all disciplines and proxy-types which seek to add climatic information or mechanistic understanding to this period.
