T43I:
The Arctic Connection: Investigating the Tectonic Evolution of the Circum-Arctic I Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 49611

Session Description:
Our understanding of the Phanerozoic tectonic evolution of the Arctic Ocean and surrounding shelves, terranes, and continental masses remains fragmented. By combining newly acquired datasets with legacy collections, the capability now exists to provide new, testable models and insights into the evolution of this remote region. An integrative framework facilitates investigation across Paleozoic to present-day timescales, shallow sedimentary systems to deep mantle domains, onshore to offshore environments, and complex feedbacks with climatic and oceanographic systems.

With a focus on interdisciplinary aggregation of independent datasets, this session aims to integrate studies that address any of: horizontal and vertical tectonic motions past and present, crust and mantle structure, volcanic eruptions, erosional and sedimentary processes, in addition to geo-tectonic ties with oceanographic and climatic development of the Arctic. We encourage submissions from a diverse range of geoscience fields, including seismology, magnetotellurics, geodesy, geodynamics, volcanism, petrology/mineralogy, mineral physics, paleoclimatology, and surface processes.
