Hydrologic Applications for Global Water Security Posters

Session Description:
In addition to Sustainable Development Goal 6, Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, water security forms a part of most of the other goals as well, notably those dealing with poverty, health, climate, human settlements, agriculture, ecosystems, and others. Good progress is being made in remote sensing and modeling of water fluxes and stores, from precipitation to groundwater, but progress in development of applications for solving water security challenges in developing and middle income countries is more modest. Issues of coarse resolution of products calibrated at a continental scale; availability and access to ground-based water, infrastructure, land-cover and socio-economic data; human capacity; and socio-political constraints can all limit successful and sustainable applications. This session will especially welcome contributions that combine internationally, regionally or nationally developed models and tools with engagement by national hydrological or meteorological agencies or other relevant institutions.
