Long-Term Changes in Hydrologic Catchment Functioning Posters

Session Description:
Understanding long-term hydrologic change to the extent it becomes predictable is a fundamental challenge for hydrologists today. There is growing evidence that streamflow response even to the same precipitation and under the same evaporative demand can change in the long-term due to a number of non-stationary, indirect, or cumulative impacts. However, these factors are rarely accounted for in hydrological projections under future climates, mostly due to lack of understanding and ability to predict these long-term changes in catchments. We invite submissions focused on hydrologically important changes in catchment functioning, including, but not limited to, insights from long-term study catchments, natural vegetation and groundwater adaptation to changing climate, impacts and consequences of multiyear dry or wet spells, multiannual variability of hydrologically important thresholds, and long-term changes in runoff sources and processes. Studies discussing implications of these factors for hydrologic modelling and associated uncertainties are also welcome.
