H11Q:
Developments in Geothermal Energy I Posters
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 50528
Session Description:
Geothermal energy, specifically Engineered Geothermal Systems (EGS), offer the potential for a tremendous renewable resource. Exploitation of these geothermal resources is a complicated task requiring understanding of coupled thermal-hydrological-mechanical-chemical response of the rock mass in question to engineered activities such as hydraulic fracturing, and flow of low temperature water through the hot rock mass, interaction with native chemical species, and chemical interaction with the host rock. This session encourages participants to submit research on geothermal technologies, site characterization and geothermal science. Work from field sites, modeling investigations, and laboratory research, at all scales ranging from micro scale to meso scale to field scale are all welcomed.
