Turbidity Currents and the Morphology and Stratigraphy They Create Posters

Session Description:
Turbidity currents constitute a major mechanism for sculpting the submarine and sublacustrine world. They excavate deep canyons, and can run out over 1000 km on deepwater fans. They create rhythmic topography such as mud waves, cyclic scour holes and meandering channels. Fan channels in particular can have levees over 50 m high. We solicit contributions across a wide spectrum in regard to a) turbidity current dynamics, including plunging, self-acceleration and self-channelization; b) associated morphology including meandering, bedforms, canyons and fans; and c) stratigraphy across the full range of deep-sea architecture. In this session we honor Henry Pantin, who was a major innovator in turbidity current dynamics, particularly in regard to self-acceleration.
