H13T:
Water Pollution in Rivers I Posters
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 51887
Session Description:
Human activities have contaminated water and degraded water quality in rivers. Combined sewer overflows (CSOs), stormwater runoff and effluents from wastewater treatment plant are the primary sources of contamination in rivers and estuaries. Nutrients (phosphorus, nitrogen, ammonia), bacteria (fecal coliform, E.Coli., enterococcus), heavy metals (mercury, cadmium, lead), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), dioxin, pesticides, as well as other inorganic/organic pollutants have been discharged into the river, caused water contamination and degraded water quality, threatening fish consumption safety and public health. Any topic relates to water pollution and water quality; environmental ecosystem restoration; fish consumption safety; land use impact; environmental health is welcome to this session.
