Session Description:
Biogeosciences is the study of the interactions between the chemical, biological and geophysical processes that control the Earth system. It has matured from a philosophical consideration of nature, to a robust field of research, exploiting the tools of Geochemistry, Biogeophysics, Terrestrial Ecosystems, Marine Ecosystems, Microbial Ecology, Molecular Biology and Astrobiology. This session seeks contributions across these areas and beyond that highlight the state of the art in our understanding of the interactions between life, geochemical and physical systems on Earth and beyond. As a Centennial session, the focus is on fundamental processes that have emerged from research that transcends specific case studies. This session will be a jumping off point for AGU’s Centennial year that will culminate in Fall 2019 with forward-looking sessions regarding the future of Biogeosciences at AGU and beyond
