Land-Based Remote Sensing of the Coastal Ocean: Science and Technological Innovations I Posters

Session Description:
Over the last decade, the use of remote sensing tools including land-based HF, VHF, and X-band radar and drone-based aerial imagery has become more prevalent in studies of the coastal ocean. With spatial and temporal scales spanning from 100s of meters to kilometers, and minutes to hours, resolving the processes that drive the ocean between the surf zone onshore and the larger coastal ocean offshore require spatially dense observations not possible using in situ sensing alone. With higher spatial and temporal resolutions, land-based and aerial sensing technologies have been used to gain significant insight into coastal oceanography. This session seeks presentations that address all topics related to remote sensing of the coastal ocean including basic science results, technology development, data assimilation and model predictions, and applications relevant to society.
