Session Description:
This, the Centennial year of AGU coincides with the tenth year of NOAA delivering bottom pressure data from a network of 39 deep ocean sea-level monitoring stations in the Pacific, Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico. DART technology not only remains the international standard for tsunami detection, but these decades-long time series from regions of the ocean not routinely sampled are increasingly applied to a broad range of global-scale investigations that address challenges from a changing environment.
This session seeks papers highlighting the role of DART data in the advancement of tsunami science as well as application of these data for interdisciplinary investigations. Specifically, contributions on increased understanding of tsunami dynamics, forecast and mitigation, data analysis, archive and data discovery, and innovative applications for other investigations such as tidal, hydrothermal venting, climate variability, as well as with GRACE satellite observations for ocean modeling and planetary processes are solicited.
