Toward a Global Assessment of Regional Carbon Budgets Posters

Session Description:
There is an increasing need and use for regional carbon budgets to track and explain changes in atmospheric GHGs and contribute to the global stocktaking of the Paris Agreement. The session invites contributions on all aspects of regional/basin level (terrestrial and ocean) carbon budgets, including both natural and anthropogenic fluxes. Top-down and bottom-up constraints are pursued. The session will highlight novel approaches, the use of in-situ and space-based observations, inventory data, and assimilation techniques to produce regularly updated regional land and ocean carbon budgets, consistent with global budgets. Primary focus is on carbon with interest to move towards full GHG budgets that include CO2, CH4 and N2O. The session is seeking interest and contributions from the broader research community towards a second global assessment “REgional Carbon Cycle Assessment and Processes” (RECCAP-2) supported by the Global Carbon Project.
