Water and Society: Modeling Tools, Communication Channels, and Stakeholder Engagement to Inform Public Policy I Posters

Session Description:
Although a growing body of scientists is making considerable progress in bridging the gap between science and policy, there is still an evident breach between academia and policy-making. In the sphere of water resources research, there exist many successful examples of scientists and relevant stakeholders collaborating regularly in the development of public policies. However, there are also many flagrant failures where scientific analyses were absent or were not considered in informing important policy decisions. Establishing stronger bridges between the research and policy-making communities, going beyond anecdotal cases, is essential to successfully increasing the impact of water research on policy decisions. In this session we are seeking research that responds to specific policy questions, as well as case studies where scientists have successfully engaged in the decision-making process. Contributions that provide examples of decision support systems, economic modeling approaches, innovative communication channels, and stakeholder engagement and co-development experiences are welcome.
