Advances in Hydrogeology for Drought Impact Mitigation Posters

Session Description:
Submissions are sought on data needs, field investigations and case studies, modeling methods and results,
and other innovative applied and theoretical advances to drought mitigation from the hydrogeology per-
spective. Aquifers of the American Southwest, including California, Nevada, and Arizona, have experienced
stresses in the form of chronic water level declines, storage depletion, and degraded water quality, from
prolonged drought. The stresses are due to reduced recharge and increased abstraction as surface water
reservoirs are depleted and deeper wells are installed. Presentations are encouraged on long-term ground-
water level and storage monitoring, measurements and observations, novel managed aquifer recharge and
storage recovery methods, sustainable aquifer management strategies and practices, and other emerging
techniques and technologies for drought mitigation.
