Biogeochemical and Functional Consequences of Vegetation Changes in the Anthropocene I Posters

Session Description:
Vegetation changes have direct consequences for the terrestrial carbon budget, biogeochemical cycling, and biophysical properties of terrestrial systems. Some vegetation changes result in such significant changes to ecosystem processes that key functions are lost, while other functions are resilient to change. Predicting how terrestrial ecosystems will respond to both future climate and environmental change is contingent on understanding both the mechanisms driving vegetation shifts and the functional consequences of vegetation shifts. This session aims to synthesize efforts to document terrestrial vegetation state shifts and explore the long- and short-term impacts of vegetation changes on the terrestrial carbon budget, vegetation feedbacks, ecosystem functioning, and biogeochemical cycling.
