Connecting the Dynamics of the Core and Mantle to Observations and Experiments II Posters

Session Description:
Recent observations and experiments have significantly advanced our understanding of the dynamics of the deep Earth. However, many crucial details remain unclear; such as the composition of the mantle and core, origin and content of heterogeneities at the core-mantle boundary and primordial reservoirs, and chemical stratification of the outer core and the heterogeneity in the inner core. Earth’s magnetic field provide unique insights into the dynamics and evolution of the core. Advances in paleomagnetism reveal the geodynamo is persistent over much of Earth history, yet its dynamics and evolution remain uncertain.  Numerical models of Earth’s core offer a way to synthesize satellite, observatory, archeomagnetic, and paleomagnetic data, to produce a more complete understanding of core dynamics. This session combines geo/paleomagnetic measurements, high pressure and temperature experiments, and high-resolution geochemical/geophysical observations with theory and numerical simulations to provide insight into the dynamical evolution of the deep interior.
