B53H:
From -omics to the Earth System: Bridging Scales to Improve Our Understanding of Earth System Function and Response II Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 56819

Session Description:
Rapid advances in genomic-, transcriptomic-, proteomic-, metabolomic-based (‘-omics’ based) approaches present opportunities to all areas of research in molecular biology, microbial ecology, soil/plant/climate sciences, and Earth system modeling. Despite these advances, interpreting these complex data types in the broader context of their roles in dynamic ecosystems and/or across regional to global scales is challenging, and it remains to be seen how -omics observations will constrain and inform Earth system models. This session aims to collate research across scales and disciplines to develop a coherent roadmap towards linking new insights from omics information to biogeochemical dynamics and the Earth system as a whole.
