Session Description:
GRACE Follow-On (GRACE-FO), planned for launch in mid-2018, will provide data continuity to a record of temporal variations in the Earthâs gravity field obtained from GRACE (2002-2017), with no less than a one year data gap between the two datasets. Further, the 2017 Earth Science and Applications from Space Decadal Survey has recommended that a successor mission to GRACE-FO be flown within the coming decade. This infrastructure offers the hope of obtaining a near-continuous 30-year record of mass flux within the Earth system. This session solicits contributions concerning: 1) data processing strategies for past, current, and future missions, 2) mission concepts and measurement systems for future satellite gravimetry missions, and 3) studies concerning complementary data types that are used in validation of, combination with, or replacement of (i.e., gap-filling between GRACE/GRACE-FO) satellite gravimetry observations. We especially solicit contributions with a focus on validating continuity between the GRACE and GRACE-FO datasets.
