A53C:
Observations and Modeling of Air Quality at Land–Water Boundaries II
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 58476
Session Description:
Coastal and near-shore lacustrine, estuarine and marine environments are at the confluence of human and natural systems with large human populations living in very close proximity to the goods and services provided by those environments. Anthropogenic activities have an outsized impact on the air quality of these regions. Large uncertainties in atmospheric chemistry and transport modeling, coupled with sparse observational datasets, make accurate predictions of air quality in these complex regions challenging (e.g. the Chesapeake Bay, the Long Island Sound, and the Great Lakes). Authors are invited to submit original research using recent field observations, chemical transport and meteorological modeling simulations, and/or improvements in satellite retrievals that can be used to inform current and future ground-based/satellite research, model development, and air quality management. Research and monitoring activities from coordinated multiplatform field campaigns over land-water interfaces both domestic and international (e.g. LMOS, OWLETS, LISTOS, etc.) are especially welcome.
