Session Description:
Over the last 100 years, Biogeosciences emerged as a broad research community’s attempts to understand the linkages and feedbacks between the physical, chemical, and biological processes on Earth and beyond. The scientific achievements and contributions from the last century continue to guide current transformative research.This retrospective session provides an opportunity to bring together concepts and ideas that have changed our perceptions of the Earth system, define and illustrate the accelerating development of the field, and form a basis for looking forward into the next 100 years during AGU’s 2019 centennial year.
