Session Description:
Aeolian processes shape landscapes on Earth, and other planetary bodies, and are integral to a variety of disciplines including geomorphology, sedimentology, atmospheric sciences, and planetary exploration. From dunes and ripples, to yardangs and ventifacts, signatures of aeolian activity span a wide range of morphologies and planetary environments. Interactions between wind and the Earth’s surface drive desertification, control air pollution, and distribute nutrients. In this session we will explore recent advances in the highly interdisciplinary aeolian sciences. We welcome contributions that address any interactions between wind and the environment. These may include, but are not limited to, field studies, modeling, experimental work, or remote sensing, and could incorporate data from Earth, Mars, Titan, or other planetary bodies.
