Session Description:
Population growth, agriculture expansion, climate change and unsustainable water management strategies have accelerated groundwater extraction worldwide and threatened its quality. This session invites presentations on innovative science and/or policy solutions for sustainable groundwater management, including data collection, field monitoring strategies, laboratory experiments, modeling, legislation and regulations development, and decision-making approaches. This session seeks contributions that assess the impacts of climate change and anthropogenic activities on groundwater quantity and quality at local-, basin-, and global-scales. Our objective is to integrate physical, social, and policy sciences to help diverse stakeholders make more informed decisions and tackle interdisciplinary problems requiring combinations of climate, hydrology, agriculture, and energy analysis.
