VGP13A:
Enriching Concordia; Microstructure Meets the Geochronology of Earth and Solar System Processes I

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 6823

Session Description:
The link between planetary processes and nano-scale mineral properties has relevance to all fields of geology. This is increasingly the case with time information from microminerals which is critical to evaluating everything from mineral exploration models to the habitability of planets. The integration of radiometric dating with nano-scale measurements using techniques such as EBSD, CL, TEM, and atom probe tomography is a growth area that continues to improve our temporal resolution of processes on the Earth, rocky planets and asteroids. This session will highlight research that enriches concordia interpretation by integrating textures and orientation/chemical microstructure with high precision spatial or isotopic geochronology data to better resolve important events in our planetary past.
