Synoptic Arctic Survey: A Fundament for Future Arctic Research
Synoptic Arctic Survey: A Fundament for Future Arctic Research
Session ID#: 11232
Session Description:
The Synoptic Arctic Survey (SAS) is an initiative for a coordinated multi-national, multi-ship survey of the Arctic Ocean's ecosystems, carbon cycle, and associated hydrography using a fleet of international icebreakers and research vessels. The new data set will allow for unprecedented assessments of the state of the Arctic Ocean, detection of the impact of climate change on these systems, and provide a baseline to track future climate change. The goal of this Town Hall is to (1) inform researchers and policymakers about the SAS, (2) present the first draft of the Science Plan and (3) seek community feedback and engagement.
