Biogeochemical Argo Science and Regional Profiling Float Studies including SOCCOM, NAOS, remOcean, INBOX and IOBioArgo

Session Description:
The global profiling float array is expanding and now includes some 7% of the Argo array.  The number of high quality profiles for biogeochemical parameters returned by these platforms in 2016 exceeded the annual mean number of deep (>900 m) profiles entered in World Ocean Atlas for oxygen, nitrate, or pH over the past decade by a factor of 5.  Profiling floats have thus become the dominant source of year around, open ocean biogeochemical data. The data from these platforms in the Argo array are available in real time with no restrictions.  Here we welcome analyses of biogeochemical profiling float data in regional scale projects such as SOCCOM, NAOS, remOcean, INBOX and IOBioArgo, as well as studies with one or a few floats.  This includes integration of biogeochemical float data with other component of the global observing system, including ships, gliders, moorings and remote sensing, and integration with numerical models.  Applications of biogeochemical float data for resource management, in outreach programs, and discussions of new technologies for observing with profiling floats are all appropriate.
