Observations and modeling of marine biogeochemical variability

Session Description:
Recent observational analyses suggest the existence of long-term biogeochemical variability in association with climate variability and change, such as ENSO, Pacific Decadal Oscillation, Arctic Oscillation and the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation. Realistic simulations and integrated data-modeling approaches now enable a comprehensive analysis of mechanisms and predictability of nutrients and plankton variability in the climate-biogeochemical system, and of projections of future ecosystem change. In this session we seek contributions that explore dynamics of climate and biogeochemical variability through observations, data analysis and modeling studies. We particularly encourage presentations that focus on biogeochemical variability on interannual to decadal timescales, climate-biogeochemical interactions, and biological and biogeochemical predictability.
