Fourth Workshop on Automated Analysis of Video Data for Wildlife Surveillance
Fourth Workshop on Automated Analysis of Video Data for Wildlife Surveillance
Session ID#: 35891
Session Description:
This workshop will bring together wildlife management and computer vision scientists to catalyze development of automated processing algorithms that can provide species-specific, size-structured abundance for key terrestrial and marine wildlife species.
Many entities are using optical data streams to augment traditional wildlife surveys. However, data volume quickly exceeds human processing capabilities. This has been mitigated by subsampling data and by using sub-optimal analysis methods. Automated wildlife classifiers, similar to those used in human surveillance and biomedical applications, are being developed to efficiently make use of optical data.
Three workshops were held at the IEEE Winter Conferences on Applications of Computer Vision and generated great interest and development within the computer vision community. This workshop will present results and spark discussion within the marine science community.
