Surface Ocean-Lower Atmosphere Study (SOLAS) Town Hall: Expanding involvement and setting priorities

Session ID#: 36032

Session Description:
Ocean and atmospheric scientists interested in all aspects of research concerning the upper ocean, the lower atmosphere, and/or the interface and connections between them are invited to attend this SOLAS-focused town hall. The Surface Ocean – Lower Atmosphere Study (SOLAS) is an international science coordination and capacity building body whose objective is: To achieve quantitative understanding of the key biogeochemical-physical interactions and feedbacks between the ocean and the atmosphere, and of how this coupled system affects and is affected by climate and environmental change.

This forum will provide an update on the new SOLAS science plan, the continually evolving SOLAS implementation strategy, and potential opportunities for involvement in SOLAS. We will have an open discussion on how SOLAS can be most useful to you and your research. We will first  discuss  international SOLAS initiatives and then  briefly focus on setting priorities for the expansion of the US SOLAS program. Scientists at all career levels, from students to full professors, as well as non-academic researchers, are welcome to participate.
