Science Videos that Engage Video: Workshop at 2018 Ocean Sciences Meeting
Session ID#: 36326
Session Description:
Workshop to help make effective, engaging and compelling videos. Led by Brian Palermo, actor and improv instructor (e.g., The Social Network, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Groundlings Theatre, Los Angeles). Built on the success of previous video workshops with Palermo (2012, 2013, 2017) and marine biologist-turned filmmaker Randy Olson (2010-2013); organized by Jonathan Sharp (University of Delaware) and Adrienne Sponberg (ASLO).
We invite anyone interested to submit video: less than 5 minutes; YouTube format. Palermo will review submitted as well as other videos that create a connection and resonate with the public. Not a “how to” workshop, more of commentary with an eye toward creating the most effective narrative and connection with audience.
Partially supported by US NSF Ocean Sciences Division.
