OD24B:
Connecting Data and Managers for Real-World Needs: Innovations from the West Coast Ocean Data Portal and West Coast Ocean Alliance I Posters

Session ID#: 85271

Session Description:
The session will focus on providing an update on the latest innovations of regional coordination around ocean science, data and management needs for the U.S. West Coast through the West Coast Ocean Data Portal (WCODP) and West Coast Ocean Alliance (WCOA). The WCOA is the new regional ocean partnership for the West Coast, bringing together tribal, state and federal ocean managers together to enhance coordination, increase communication and transparency, and more effectively identify ocean science and data needs. The WCODP serves as the primary conduit for coordination around data and science, working with partners to address common gaps and develop new tools and approaches to address identified need. The panel will bring together a range of perspectives from tribes, state and federal agencies, along with data and scientific experts, to highlight best practices and innovations that have led to more effective use of science and data to inform ocean management.
