H23B:
Environmental Vadose Zone Hydrology Posters

Session ID#: 7966

Session Description:
The vadose zone provides an important link between the ground surface and groundwater, and has the potential to influence a wide range of critically-important environmental hydrologic phenomena. Many processes in the vadose zone are poorly understood due to effects of heterogeneity, difficulties associated with characterization or monitoring, and the transient nature of vadose zone processes. This session seeks poster presentations that advance our understanding of dynamic hydrologic and biogeochemical processes in the vadose zone. Topics may include, but are not limited to: 1. unsaturated and multiphase flow and transport, 2. effects of heterogeneity including preferential flow, 3. climate change-induced vadose zone processes, 4. measurement or monitoring techniques, and 5. uncertainty in vadose zone flow and transport prediction.  Posters describing studies based on laboratory work, field investigations, or computational simulations are all welcomed.
