Session Description:
K-12 outreach is a common avenue for scientists to demonstrate broader impact efforts.  In recent years, parallel initiatives to strengthen and sustain the STEM "pipeline" have provided additional impetus for scientists to connect with local schools. Soliciting the experience and expertise of classroom teachers can support the development of an innovative and relevant K-12 outreach plan. This session seeks classroom teachers who have identified creative avenues to integrate the research of a local scientist within the confines of mandated (local, state, and/or national) course content. The goal of this session is to assist scientists in developing more efficient, effective and sustainable broader impact plans through engagement of highly qualified teachers.  Classroom teachers in this session will share their experience developing, implementing, and assessing scientists' broader impact efforts.
