B21K:
Global and Regional Nitrous Oxide Budget: Data, Models, and Uncertainty I Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 46592

Session Description:
Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions and atmospheric concentrations have been steadily growing for decades, yet large uncertainties remain on the magnitude, sources and controlling factors of emissions. In order to assess climate stabilization pathways consistent with the Paris climate agreement, improved understanding of the global N2O budget and its regular assessment are imperative. This session aims to bring together studies to help quantify global and regional N2O budgets through the analysis of emissions inventories, field observations, terrestrial and ocean biogeochemical modeling, and atmospheric inverse modeling. Abstracts using any of these methods or their combination and approaches at multiple spatial and temporal scales are invited. Research from this session is expected to contribute to the development of a biannual update of the global N2O budget supported by the Global Carbon Project and the International Nitrogen Initiative.
