ED53C:
Realizing Value from Community Cyberinfrastructure for Science eLightning
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 61669
Session Description:
Investments in community cyberinfrastructure for science broaden opportunities for research, education, and public engagement. Virtual community platforms and training resources can help researchers to develop data management plans (DMPs) and to effectively analyze and manage data throughout the scientific research lifecycle, facilitating sharing of data that are Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR). Dependable community cyberinfrastructure also allows educators to develop data-driven curricula, which can help students gain a better understanding of challenges in conducting research, such as data scarcity and metadata standards. For the public, open access cyberinfrastructure for science makes science more transparent, enables self-guided exploration, and can spark curiosity for further learning. In this session, we will highlight outcomes of community cyberinfrastructure investments, including resources for FAIR data sharing, effective data management planning, and place-based, data-driven learning exercises with classroom and community impacts.
