RS41A:
Regional Heterogeneity in the Subarctic Pacific: Implications for Oceanographic Processes and Biological Communities I

Session ID#: 36745

Session Description:
The physical complexity of the subarctic Pacific gives rise to spectacular coastlines as well as regional-scale heterogeneity in factors that define marine habitats. This heterogeneity has implications for meteorology, oceanography, and biology, influencing key ecosystem processes including productivity, connectivity, food-web structure, patch dynamics, and fish recruitment. We invite presentations that use in situ observations, remote sensing, modeling, or other approaches to explore the consequences of regional heterogeneity in the subarctic Pacific, particularly the Gulf of Alaska. We encourage presentations that use a spatial comparison approach.
