Climate Literacy: Delivering Climate Change Science Content, Pedagogy, and Data Resources to K-12 Educators, Future Teachers, and Professional Development Providers I Posters

Session Description:
Climate change is a complex topic, and widespread climate literacy is required to address and reduce the impacts of rapid climate change. Formal K12 education provides the best opportunities for students to engage in sustained learning about climate change, but few teachers have training or experience in teaching this topic. This session invites abstracts presenting research and models of approaches, interventions, or professional development that: 1. increase inservice teachers’ knowledge of climate change science and improve access to research-based information; or 2. educate inservice teachers in accessing and using appropriate climate data with students or guiding student field studies related to climate change; or 3. incorporate climate change into education programs for preservice teachers, or 4. provide training for professional development providers to lead climate change education programs, or 5. offer a conceptual framework for inquiry-based instruction in climate change that is aligned with NGSS and science and engineering practices.
