Climate Literacy: Successes and Strategies in Youth Engagement in Building Resilience to Climate Change Impacts in Vulnerable Communities with Citizen Science I Posters

Session Description:
Informal education programs, including those at museums, aquaria, environmental education organizations, place-based nonprofits, and activities outside school hours, reach significant numbers of students and are a major source of science information for the public. Informal educators have developed and tested a wide variety of lessons and strategies to build climate literacy, with programs for youth, teacher professional development, families, citizen science, and place-based community programs. We invite proposals from educators in the informal education sphere, and we encourage proposals related to citizen science and advancing public science literacy through climate change education. We welcome contributions from large and small organizations to present innovative and effective strategies, pilot or scaled-up programs, and evaluations of impact. What strategies do you use to bring climate science and solutions to life? What are your biggest successes and challenges? What important outcomes can you share with the wider climate change education community?
